 主讲教师：Linhai Song 人气：1328 更新时间: 2020年12月21日 报告摘要:VirusTotalprovidesmalwarelabelsfromalargesetofantimalwareengines,andisheavilyusedbyresearchersformalwareannotationandsystemevaluation.Sincedifferentenginesoftendisagreewitheachother,researchershaveusedvariousmethodstoaggregatetheirlabels.Inthistalk,Iwildiscussourrecentresearchprojectoncategorizing,reasoning,andvalidatingcommonlabelingmethodsusedbyresearchers.Wefirstsurvey115academiepapersthatuseVirusTotal,andidentifycommonmethodologies.ThenwecollectthedailysnapshotsofVirusTotallabelsformorethan14,000files(includingasubsetofmanuallyverifiedground-truth)from65VirusTotalenginesoverayear.Ouranalysisvalidatesthebenefitsofthreshold-basedlabelaggregationinstaillizingfles\'labels,andalsopointsouttheimpactofpoorty-chosenthresholds.Weshowthathand-picked"trusted"enginesdonotalwaysperformwell,andcertaingroupsofenginesarestronglycorrelatedandshouldnotbetreatedindependently.Finally,weempiricallyshowcertainenginesfailtoperformin-depthanalysisonsubmittedflesandcaneasilyproducefalseposives.Basedonourfindings.weoffersuggestionsforfutureusageofVirusTotalfordataannotation.ThisworkwaspublishedinUsenixSecurity\'2020.报告人简介:LinhaiSongisanAssistantProfessoratthePennsyIvaniaStateUniversity.Linhaihaspublishedmorethantenresearchpapersontop-tierconferences,includingASPLOS,PLDIandUSENIXSecurityLinhaiwontheMICRO\'2014BestPaperRunnerUpandtheACMSIGPLANResearchHighightsAwardin2011.LinhaigothisPh.DdegreefromUniversityofWisconsin-Madisonin2015.Hisresearchinterestsincludesystems,programminglanguagesandsecurity.
