Rapidadvancesinindustrialinformationintegrationmethodshavespurredtremendousgrowthintheuseofenterprisesystems.Consequently,avarietyoftechniqueshavebeenusedforprobingenterprisesystems.Thesetechniquesincludebusinessprocessmanagement,workflowmanagement,EAI,SOA,gridcomputing,andothers.Manyapplicationsrequireacombinationofthesetechniques,whichisgivingrisetotheemergenceofenterprisesystems.Developmentofthetechniqueshasoriginatedfromdifferentdisciplinesandhasthepotentialtosignificantlyimprovetheperformanceofenterprisesystems.However,thelackofpowerfultoolsstillposesamajorhindrancetoexploitingthefullpotentialofenterprisesystems.Inparticular,formalmethodsandsystemsmethodsarecrucialformodelingcomplexenterprisesystems,whichposesuniquechallenges.Inthispresentation,webrieflysurveythestateoftheartintheareaofenterprisesystemsaswellasIndustrialInformationIntegratio

Thesenotessummarizesomerecent,andperhapsnot-so-recent,advancesintheestimationofnonlinearpaneldatamodels.Researchinthelast10to15yearshasbranchedoffintwodirections.Inone,thefocushasbeenonparameterestimation,possiblyonlyuptoacommonscalefactor,insemiparametricmodelswithunobservedeffects(thatcanbearbitrarilycorrelatedwithcovariates.)Anotherbranchhasfocusedonestimatingpartialeffectswhenrestrictionsaremadeonthedistributionofheterogeneityconditionalonthehistoryofthecovariates.Thesenotesattempttolayouttheprosandconsofeachapproach,payingparticularattentiontothetradeoffinassumptionsandthequantitiesthatcanbeestimated.

Combiningtheutilityofcontrolledpolymerizationtechniqueswiththeversatilityofotherrecentlydevelopedsyntheticmethodsallowsstreamlinedaccesstobiorelevantpolymerswithwell-definedfeatures.Wehavepreparedavarietyofresponsivematerialsbyemployingreversibleaddition-fragmentationchaintransfer(RAFT)polymerizationandhighlyefficientpostpolymerizationfunctionalization.Capitalizingontheutilityofthesesynthetictoolsfacilitatestheinvestigationofpolymerswithuniquestimuli-responsivebehaviorinaqueoussolutions.Thispresentationwillhighlightrecentadvancesfromtheinvestigationoftemperature-andredox-responsivehydrogels,triply-responsivemicelles,dynamic-covalentmacromolecularassemblies,andsmartpolymer-proteinbioconjugates.
