2016海峡两岸电化学学术研讨会定于2016年10月8日至11日在中国科学技术大学举行。本次研讨会由中国科学技术大学承办。此次会议是继2015年在台湾科技大学(台北)举行的两岸电化学学术研讨会后的又一界高水平、高信息容量的学术交流,下一届研讨会将于2017年在台湾高雄举行。会议将搭建高水平的学术交流平台,围绕电化学科学和技术发展中的基础问题,交流学术思想,促进科研合作和技术转化,推动海峡两岸电化学领域的学术交流、学科发展和科技进步。热诚邀请大陆、台、港、澳地区从事电化学基础研究、应用研究及仪器开发方面的同仁汇聚合肥,交流展示最新成果,探索如何进一步解决电化学学科的前沿和基础问题,推动电化学科学和技术在国民经济发展中的应用。

Plasmonicbiochipstypicallyconsistofmetallicgoldorsilvernanostructuresonsubstratesthroughwhichtheyexhibithighlysensitivecollectiveelectromagneticoscillationsdependingonthesurroundingdielectricmaterials.Thesebiochipsareknownaslocalizedsurfaceplasmonresonance(LSPR)sensors.Fromadiagnosticsperspective,plasmonic-enabledmethodologiesforroutineuseandhigh-throughputdetectionofdiseasebiomarkersatlowconcentrationscouldpotentiallymovefromproof-of-principleexperimentstopoint-of-care(POC)clinicalevaluationinthenearfuture.Herein,weintroducegoldnanoparticle-clusterimmunoassaythattargetmoleculesarecapturedviaantibody-specificrecognitionwithinthehot-spotAU-LSPRbiochips.ByLSPRcouplingofgoldnanoparticle-clusters,wedemonstrateaneffectiveplasmonicprotocolforconductinglabel-freeimmunoassaystodetectanti-α-synuclein(anti-α-syn),whichisbelievedtobeanimportantpathologicalbiomarkerofParkinson’sdisease.FortheearlydetectionandscreeningofthisParkinson’smarker,clinicaldiagnosisrequiresastraightforwardimmunoassaymethodthatcanclearlydiscriminatebetweenanti-α-synlevelsontheorderof3.8ng/mL(0.2nM;molecularweight19KD).

Asecureandsustainableenergyfuturethatisnotbasedonafossilfuelbasedinfrastructurerequiresthedesignofnewmaterialsforefficientenergyconversion,transport,andstorage.Indeed,materialsdevelopmentisaratelimitingstepinmanypotentialnewenergyconversionstrategies,impactingtheefficiencyofphotovoltaicsolarcells,thestoragecapacityandpowerdensityofbatteriesforautomobileapplications,thesynthesisofliquidfuels,andthecatalysisanddurabilityofenergyconversioninfuelcells.Advancedcarbonmaterialsinspiredandtransformedfromnaturalresourcesintoelectrodesforsolarcells,batteries,supercapacitorsorfuelcellsunderpinourlifestylestodayandaremakingtheneededtransitionintoalowcarboneconomy.InthistalkIwillpresentourrecentadvancesinthedesign,characterizationandapplicationofbioinspiredcarbonmaterialsinvariousrenewableenergytechnologieswithfocusonelectrodesinsupercapacitorsandprotonelectrolyteconductivefuelcells.

Thinfilmsofthermochromicvanadiumdioxideweredepositedusinganovelelectricfieldassistedchemicalvapordepositionmethodologyatatmosphericpressureontoglasssubstrates.Electricfieldsweregeneratedduringthedepositionreactionbyapplyingapotentialdifferenceacrosstheinter-digitatedelectrodesofthegassensorsubstrateorbuyapplyinganelectricfieldbetweentwotransparentconductingoxidecoatedglasssubstrates.Thedepositedfilmswereanalyzedandcharacterizedusingscanningelectronmicroscopy,Ramanspectroscopy,X-raydiffraction,atomicforcemicroscopy,variabletemperatureopticalspectroscopyandcontactanglemeasurements.Itwasfoundthatapplyinganelectricfieldledtolargechangesinfilmmicrostructure,preferentialorientationandchangesinthefilmgrowthrate.Thisledtosignificantchangesinmaterialspropertiessuchasdecreasedcrystallitesize,nano-structuring,increasedsurfaceroughnessandenhancedwettingbehavior.ThedepositedfilmswereevaluatedusingEnergyPlusfortheirenergydemandreductioncharacteristicsinavarietyofarchitecturalsettingsandcomparedagainstexistingglazingproducts.Itwasfoundthatthermochromicthinfilmscanoffersignificantenergydemandreductionbenefits.

Long-termreliableneuralinterfacingrequiresbothphysicalandfunctionalintegrationoftheneuralinterfacewiththetargettissues.Suchintegrationischallengingtoachievewithcontemporaryneuralinterfaces,and,asaresult,neuralimplantsfrequentlycausebio-foulingandtissuedamage,ultimatelyleadingtofailureoftheimplant.Researcheffortsonvariousaspectsareongoingtomitigatethechallengesandimprovethelong-termperformanceofneuralinterfaces.Amongsuchefforts,thepursuitofsoftneuralinterfacesforminimizingthemechanicalimpedancemismatchbetweentheimplantandsurroundingsofttissuesisexpectedtoreducethestress-inducedinflammationandscartissueencapsulationaroundneuralimplants.Wehavebeenworkingonthisstrategyforthelastdecadeanddevelopedtechnologiestoproduceavarietyofstretchablemultielectrodearrays(sMEAs).Inthistalk,usingoureffortsonthedevelopmentofsMEAsasanexample,Iwillreviewthismultidisciplinarypursuitofchronicallyreliableneuralinterfacesbyanalyzingtheproblem,abstractingtheengineeringprinciples,andsummarizingthecorrespondingengineeringstrategies.报告人:Prof.LiangGuoDr.GuoisanAssistantProfessorinElectrical&ComputerEngineering;andNeuroscienceatTheOhioStateUniversity.HereceivedhisB.E.degreeinbiomedicalengineeringfromTsinghuaUniversity,Beijingin2004andhisPh.D.degreeinbioengineeringfromGeorgiaInstituteofTechnology,Atlanta,GAin2011.From2011to2013,heworkedasaPostdoctoralAssociateintheLangerLaboratoryatMIT.Hisresearchinterestsareinneuralinterfacingtechnologyandbiologicalcircuitsengineeringasappliedtoneuroscienceandneuralprosthetics.
