Molecular Assembly toward Thermo-Electrochemical Cell
Abstract: Thermoelectric conversion technology attracts much interest recently due to the demand on the efficient use of waste heat and the power supply for smallsensors. Thermocell, which is also called as a thermo-electrochemical cell orthermo-galvanic cell, is an emerging candidate for the thermoelectric generator.Thermocell generates electric power by the change of equilibrium potential of aredox pair by the temperature difference. Thermocell consists of a solution of aredox pair and temperature gradient. The redox pair constructs an equilibriumpotential, and the potential depends on the temperature. The state-of-the-arttechnology of thermocell reaches ZT value to O.16 with CNT electrode and[Fe(CN)g]3-l4-. Here we report the supramolecular technology for improving Seebeckcoefficient of the thermocell. This result provides a technology for improvingSeebeck coefficient as well as ZT of thermocells.
