Workshop for Graduate Students on Scientific English Writing Abstract: This workshop aims to improve science graduate students' ability in scientific English writing. Wewill cover the following topics. For each topic, we will focus on three aspects: the purpose, thestructure and language features. Writing the Abstract Writing the Introduction Writing the Literature Review. Writing the Methods. Writing the Results Writing the Discussion. Writing the Conclusion In this workshop, we will also discuss the practical ways of improving general English skills. About the workshop speaker: HUANG Yue Yuan has an MA in TESOL and a doctorate degree in linguistics, both from State Universityof New York at Stony Brook, USA. She has worked for 22 years in the Language Centre, Hong KongBaptist University. She was the principal investigator (PI) of four research projects funded byResearch Grants Council of Hong Kong and Language Fund of Hong Kong. As a principal supervisor,she has supervised three PhD students to completion in the area of second language acquisitionand has also supervised 17 master's theses in language studies. Since 2014, she has been workingas the consultant for the English Program of the Institute for Advanced Study in Shenzhen UniversityHer research interest is in second language acquisition and her current research focuses on CollegeEnglishteaching and. academic English writing.
