Sauer Et al. unpublished Short Biography: Hans-Jeachim Freund is a scicmtifie member and director at the Fritz-Hsber-Institul der Mas-Planck-Ge-sellschaft in Berlin where he is hend of the Depariment of Chemienl Physics, The department is dedicated to the study ofmodel catalyats, applying a large number of techniques and iostrumcnts. some of which were ncwly developed within the de-partmcnt to invcntigaic otide surlaces and oxide mctal iutcrlaues lic scrves as Adjunct Profcssor at five universitics in Gcr-many and UK He received awards in Europe, the US, and Asia He is a member of wix Academies including the German Na-tiomal Academy of Scicnces Lcopaldina and the American Aendemy ofArts and Sciences mnd holds three honorary DectoratesHe received the Gaede-Langmuir AW ard of the American Vacuum Socicly and is the rccipient of the 2015 Michel Boudart forthe Advancement of Cntalysin by the North American Catalyxis Socioty and the European Federation of Catalysis SocictiesHe is Fellow of the American Physical Socicty and has publisbed more than 815 seientifie papers with moru than 45 0Q0 citu-toms and given aboul 770 invined ulks He has held a mumber of numed lectureships around the world He has educated morethan 130 PhD students and collaborated with more than 80 postdoctoral associates
